Great! You're all signed up. Let's get you up and running quickly.

Your Setup Roadmap

  1. Organize your workspace

  2. Select a computer

  3. Choose your temperature sensor type

  4. Order your temperature logging device

  5. Set up your inventory, warehouse locations, and equipment at Roastlog.com

  6. Install the RoastLogger app

  7. Start roasting!

Planning Your Workspace

Your roastery setup impacts your experience with RoastLog. Consider these key factors:

  • Display size: Choose a screen size that fits your space and budget. Larger screens take up more space, but may help untether you from your roaster during roasting sessions.

  • Mounting options: Consider a computer stand or monitor arm to maximize tabletop workspace. Mounting at eye level is ideal.

  • Internet connection: Ensure reliable network connectivity for synchronizing data between RoastLogger and the RoastLog website.

  • Cable management: Keep computer cables and sensor wires neatly organized to avoid interference with your roasting workflow.

  • Computer setup: Ensure you have space for a keyboard and mouse in your work area.

Temperature Sensor Options

Thermocouples (TCs)

We recommend installing new ungrounded thermocouples dedicated to RoastLog for these reasons:

  • Minimizes disruption to existing production

  • Allows installation between roasting sessions

  • Avoids complications with your current setup

Need thermocouples? Log in to roastlog.com and chat with us directly through the website, or email us at support@roastlog.com to discuss your exact needs. We'll help you select the right equipment for your specific setup.

Our recommended temperature logging devices are compatible with both ungrounded type-J and type-K thermocouples.

Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs)

RTDs are growing in popularity, especially for roasters upgrading from Cropster or Artisan. If you prefer RTDs, the Phidgets VINT Hub or Temperature Sensor Model 1048 work with both thermocouples and RTD sensors.

Installation Help

Need guidance installing your temperature sensors? We're here to help! This is often the most challenging part of integrating RoastLog. Contact us or read our Thermocouple Installation and Placement guide.

Temperature Logging Devices

We recommend using Phidgets devices for temperature logging with RoastLog. These reliable devices are available directly from the manufacturer:

  1. Here are the two most popular configurations:

    • Temperature Sensor 4-Input (Part #TMP1101_0) connected to your computer through the VINT Hub Phidget (Part #HUB0000_0)

    • Phidget Temperature Sensor, 4-input (Part #1048_2B) directly connected your computer

Limited inventory available: We occasionally have some temperature logging devices (including our original Data Bridge and Phidgets devices) in stock. Contact us at support@roastlog.com to check availability if you'd prefer to order directly from us.

All hardware purchases through RoastLog can be charged to the same credit card you used for signup.

RoastLogger Software

RoastLogger is our application that records profiles and batch details, uploading them to the RoastLog cloud platform. The most recent version can be accessed via Chrome browser at https://roastlogger.online/.

Ready to Roast?

If your hardware is set up and you're ready to start using the application, explore our other Getting Started articles for next steps.
