Goal: Re-upload roasts that failed to sync with RoastLog due to an expired authentication session.
Prerequisites: You must have roasts that failed to upload and are currently stored locally in RoastLogger.
Why Roasts Fail to Upload
Sometimes your roasts might fail to upload to RoastLog, and this typically happens when your login session expires. Your authentication session automatically expires after 30 days, and if you haven't refreshed your browser window or closed and reopened RoastLogger during that time, the application can no longer communicate with our servers.
The good news is that all of your roasts are saved locally on your device, so nothing is lost! We've built a simple way to get these failed roasts back into your system.
Step 1: Refresh Your Login Session
First, you'll need to refresh your authentication:
Click the logout button in the upper right corner of RoastLogger
Log back in using your usual credentials
Step 2: Access the Re-upload Feature
Once you're logged back in:
Navigate to the roast queue screen
Look for the "Re-upload failed roasts" link in the upper right corner
Click on this link to open the re-upload dialog
Step 3: Re-upload Your Roasts
In the dialog that appears:
Click the "Try again" button
The system will automatically attempt to upload all of your locally stored roasts that previously failed
You should see confirmation that the roasts have been successfully uploaded
What We're Doing to Improve This
I'm currently working on a fix to make this process even smoother. In future updates, when your session expires, the app will automatically prompt you to refresh your session rather than letting uploads fail silently.
