Connect RoastLogger to Loring Roaster

This articles walks you through the steps to connect your computer to your Loring, so that you can connect it with RoastLogger.

What You Need

  • Your roaster from Loring Smart Roast

  • A computer

  • An ethernet cable

  • Our RoastLogger software, downloaded and installed on your computer. You can find the latest version for your operating system here: https://download.roastlog.com/

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Navigate to your computers network settings.

    • Windows

      • Click Start menu > Settings > Network & Internet

      • Select Ethernet

      • Click Edit under IP Assignment

      • Select Manual and turn on IPv4

    • MacOS

      • Open System Preferences > Network

      • Select Ethernet in the left sidebar

      • Change "Configure IPv4" to "Manually"

      • Set the subnet mask (255.255.255.0)

  2. Set a static IP Address

    • Set your ip address to 192.168.1.42

  3. Connect the Machines

    • Plug one end of the ethernet cable into your roaster and the other end into your computer.

  4. Install the Software

  5. Update your settings

    • Click your name in the upper right, and select Device settings

    • Select Loring in the device list

    • Enter the IP of your roaster. The values vary by model:

      • S15 Falcon, S35 Kestrel and S70 Peregrine: 192.168.1.199

      • S7 Nighthawk: 192.168.1.69

    • Toggle the temperatures that you would like to display on the chart, while recording, using the toggle buttons below the four different temperature labels.

  6. Click the square red Modbus icon in the upper right to connect. Temperatures should begin to show up on the left side.

  7. You're all done!
